Fresh Start Track
Fresh Start Track is an MBA for students with no work experience and little academic background in accounting. MUM prepares you for success as a professional accountant in 11 months to 18 months (depending on your academic background and professional work experience). There is no curricular practical training in this track.
Strong Background Track
Strong Background Track requires at least 4 accounting courses. No work experience is necessary. The length of the program varies (11 to 18 months) based on previous academic background. There is no curricular practical training in this track. It is well-suited for people who possess a strong academic background in accounting and business, and who want to earn their MBA degree quickly.
We offer courses to prepare students to take the professional examinations that are required to become Certified Public Accountants (CPA) and Certified Management Accountants (CMA).
MBA for Accounting Professionals
The MBA for Accounting Professionals program addresses the needs of established accounting professionals who want to deepen their professional knowledge and experience. This program requires two or more years of recent full-time work experience in accounting or a related field, and a strong financial accounting academic background (three or more courses). Oracle and SAP experience is a plus but not required.
Students study on campus for 8 months (32 credits) and then apply their MBA skills to real-life situations in the workplace for up to 2 years during the curricular practical training (CPT) portion of the Accounting Professionals program. MUM may offer a student loan to cover part of the program costs to applicants who fully meet the qualification requirements. The entire program is 2.5 years in length.

This track requires a preliminary assessment to determine eligibility.
On-Campus Study
The Accounting Professionals MBA program begins with classroom participation for eight months in the unique learning environment of UMLAC
CAPSIM Foundation Business Simulation
A favorite course activity among accounting students is the CAPSIM Foundation Simulation, a business competition with other colleges and universities throughout the nation. The CAPSIM Foundation Simulation is a continuous event available online, where participating teams are evaluated against all teams who have participated in the previous six months.
The simulation is a popular event among students in the MBA Accounting classes offered by Dr. Bargerstock. The students appreciate the opportunity to exercise their skills in executive decision-making and small group dynamics. Both strong analytical skills and informed intuition are valuable for integrated decision-making.
Curricular Practical Training
After eight months of full-time, on-campus studies, international students can take advantage of training opportunities by means of duly authorized Curricular Practical Training. During your time on campus, UMLAC provides a Career Strategies Workshop to prepare you in important skills for securing a training position including resume writing, job search and social networking, telephone and face-to-face interviewing techniques, cultural orientation to regional workplaces and interviewing behaviors. University counselors are available at every step to provide guidance and support.
