BA Maharishi Vedic Science
Overview
Course Study Includes:
- Coverage of all the major themes of the Maharishi Vedic Science program including higher states of consciousness, collective consciousness, Sanskrit and reading the Vedic Literature in Sanskrit, and also surveys all the Consciousness-BasedSM Technologies offered by Maharishi Vedic Science.
- Study of source documents in Maharishi Vedic Science with emphasis on the Bhagavad Gita, The Science of Being and Art of Living, Absolute Theory of Defense, Vedic Knowledge for Everyone, and Celebrating Perfection in Education.
- Development of writing and speaking skills as students apply Maharishi Vedic Science to the areas of health, education, management, and rehabilitation.
- A one-month integrative writing exercise unifying the various themes of the student’s academic experience at Maharishi University of Management.
Entrance Requirements
Before entering the major in Maharishi Vedic Science, students must complete (waived for graduates of Maharishi School), MVS 202, PH 101, and WTG 191.)
Degree Requirements
The Maharishi Vedic Science major focuses on the experience, understanding and development of the cosmic potential of every student for individual fulfillment, national invincibility and permanent world peace.
Requirements for the major are 52 credits as described below.

- MVS 208 Fundamentals of Maharishi Vedic Science
- MVS 210 Veda and Vedic Literature in Maharishi Vedic Science
- MVS 302 Bhagavad-Gita
- MVS 308 Research Design and Outcomes on the Transcendental Meditation Program
- MVS 309 Fundamentals of World Peace
- MVS 391 MVS Major’s Senior Writing and Speaking Project
NOTE: MVS Majors Senior Project course is offered every academic year, other MVS courses are offered every
other academic year.
Plus at least 20 credits from one of the following options:
- MVS 240 EEG, Brain, and Enlightenment
- MVS 300 Science of Being and Art of Living
- MVS 321 Reading the Vedic Literature 1
- MVS 322 Reading the Vedic Literature 2

NOTE: MVS 490 and MVS 492 are generally taken after all other course work for the bachelor’s degree has been completed.
To graduate with a BA in Maharishi Vedic Science for Teachers of the Transcendental Meditation Technique,
students must successfully complete all requirements for the bachelor’s degree. (Please refer to “Undergraduate Degree
Requirements”)
“Maharishi Vedic Science is the science of Veda. ‘Veda’ means pure knowledge and the infinite organizing power that is inherent in the structure of pure knowledge. Pure knowledge is the state of awareness in which consciousness knows itself alone, when awareness is completely self referral, when awareness has nothing other than itself in its structure.
“This state of pure knowledge, when knower, known, and process of knowing are in the self-referral, is that all-powerful, immortal, infinite dynamism at the unmanifest basis of creation. This is Vedic Science—all about the knower, the known, and the process of knowing; all about consciousness, both in its self-referral, self-interacting state, and as it expresses itself in the infinite variety of the whole creation, that performance of nature which goes on and on eternally in all spheres of time, past, present, and future. The knowledge of this most basic principle of life—the self-interacting dynamics of consciousness—is the science of pure knowledge, the science of Veda.”
