Introduction

Integrative Medicine may be defined as a Patient-Centered Health Approach that uses Modern (allopathic) Medicine jointly with evidence-based Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM), also called Traditional Medicine. At our School we base our approach to Alternative Medicine on Maharishi AyurVeda, the ancient and timeless Vedic approach to medicine, which was brought to light in this scientific age for its authentic value of theory and practice by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, in conjunction with the world’s foremost experts in Ayurvedic Medicine and physicians and scientists in modern medicine.

Integrative medicine programs are not commonly found at universities and it may very well be that UMLAC’s programs are the first of this kind.

Our Medical Doctor (M.D.) in Integrative Medicine program prepares and empowers the students to have the knowledge, skills and attitude for prevention, diagnosis and treatment of the mind, body and environment in an integrative manner, while growing as leaders that have the awareness to promote wellness for themselves and for society.

The graduate student of UMLAC’s School of Integrative Medicine will be trained by taking the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE), to become a USA-licensed Medical Doctors with an Ayurveda-Based Integrative Medicine approach.
